What's included in a Mummy Makeover procedure?

A Mummy Makeover procedure also known as mommy makeover in the USA, involves multiple procedures being carried out at the same time.

Tummy Tuck: Tummy Tuck or Abdominoplasty most commonly addresses the lower and front part of the tummy, but at times there is excess tissue on the side of the tummy which needs removing as well. In these cases, a unique technique is used, Fleur-de-lis. In some less common situations, the excess tissue extends all around the lower tummy, sometimes requiring a belt lipectomy.

Breast Augmentation/Enhancement: surgery to increase breast size and improve breast shape and fullness using breast implants or fat. Breast implants can be placed under the breast tissue or chest muscle.

Breast Augmentation Mastopexy/Uplift: in most circumstances, the breast has both lost volume and has suffered sagginess. The most commonly performed procedure to reverse these changes involves a breast uplift with an implant and sometimes a breast uplift without an implant.

Breast Reduction: some women with large breasts suffer from back and neck pain, shoulder grooves from the bra straps and rashes underneath the breasts. Large breasts are usually heavy and droopy, and breast reduction surgery will make the breast smaller and higher. Women feel more comfortable socially and personally after breast reduction surgery.

Vaser Liposuction: liposuction is an essential component of the mummy makeover. Vaser Liposuction can sculpt and shape multiple areas of your body, such as the abdomen, hips, thighs, buttocks, arms and back.

Mummy Makeover Cosmetic Surgery Procedures are usually performed as one major surgical procedure that includes various procedures simultaneously. The main benefit of the Mummy Makeover is that you have one general anaesthesia, one recovery and monetary savings.

Mummy Makeover Risks

Is a Mummy Makeover Dangerous or High Risk?

All three surgical treatments involved in a Mummy Makeover – Liposuction, Breast Enhancement or Reduction and Abdominoplasty (Tummy Tuck) – are popular and safe cosmetic surgeries that are regularly performed on patients in the UK by Mummy Makeover surgeons.

Mr. Ahmad has over 30 years of experience in cosmetic surgery, having performed more than 3000 cosmetic surgeries on patients his focus is always to provide the very best, high-quality results for all of his clients. Undergoing the surgery requires a certain degree of fitness within a weight limit.

Mr Ahmad assesses his clients thoroughly and discusses surgery and its components such as health and weight in detail at the time of consultation. As with any major surgery in a hospital, there are risks associated with a mummy makeover; however, when these procedures are performed by experienced doctors, the patient’s risk is minimised. Our clinic is also registered with the Care Quality Commission (1)

You’ll need to get plenty of rest after surgery, so be sure to schedule your surgery at a time when you can take some time off for recovery outside of the hospital.

Safe Procedure

Are Breast Implants safe?

Breast implants are considered safe, but it’s important to remember that they are considered medical devices. The manufacturing process is closely regulated, and implants must meet safety standards set by the FDA. But like any medical device, problems can occur with their use. It’s important to discuss any concerns you have with your surgeon. Complications can occur with any type of surgery, but the risk of complications is lower when a qualified surgeon performs procedures. During your consultation, your surgeon will review the possible risks and complications associated with each procedure. Some common risks include infection, bleeding, scarring, adverse reactions to anaesthesia, and implant-related problems. You must understand these risks before deciding to have surgery.

Benefits

Benefits of Mummy Makeover Surgery?

Mummy Makeover procedure is a specialist cosmetic surgery and involves performing the three procedures of liposuction, breast enhancement or reduction and abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) as one surgical procedure means the client undergoes cosmetic surgery and recovery just once.

The mummy makeover package is also priced at a special rate, up to £500 less than the cost of purchasing the three procedures separately.

Mummy Makeover Consultation

What happens at the consultation for a Mummy Makeover?

Mr Ahmad provides a comprehensive assessment, including medical and aesthetic evaluation. Any weight loss surgery needs careful consideration and is often a life changing procedure and experience. All components of surgery are discussed in full detail, including potential risks. The medical assessment includes ensuring that there are no major health issues and that the client is fit enough to go through the combined procedure safely. The aesthetic evaluation is carried out considering all the components of surgery. You are then given time to reflect on the proposed procedure or procedures before talking with Mr Ahmad again.

Recovery Time

How long will it take me to recover?

The recovery time after Mummy Makeover procedure will depend on the individual patient and the procedures undertaken.

You’ll need to get plenty of rest after surgery, so be sure to schedule your surgery when you can take some time off for healing. Generally speaking, a gradual recovery is advised, and avoiding intense activities, e.g. exercise, jogging, cycling etc., is recommended. Patients can expect to take between six weeks and two months before feeling completely healed and back to their usual selves.

Child Birth & Abdominoplasty Surgery

How long do I need to wait after the birth of my child until I have Abdominoplasty?

Mummy Makeover procedure is not recommended within the first year after delivery or before your baby has stopped breastfeeding. Mums who plan to lose weight but are unsure how soon they can become fit again should wait until their bodies have entirely recovered.

Mummy Makeover procedure can be considered only after a complete recovery from pregnancy, breastfeeding, C-section delivery or significant weight loss. For this procedure to be safe, your body needs time to recover from pregnancy and childbirth.

Recovery

Do I need to take time off work after having a Mummy Makeover?

You are advised to take at least two weeks off work following mummy makeover surgery. This will depend on your job role and the activity level involved, be sure to discuss this with your surgeon at your consultation.

Child Birth & Mummy Makeover Surgery

I had my child by c-section. Can I still have Mummy Makeover Surgery?

Yes, mums that had their child by c-section can still have Mummy Makeover surgery. However, those who had C-section deliveries will need more recovery time than those that did not have surgery. Mummy Makeovers are major surgical procedures and carry risks, so healing and recovery are essential before surgery.

Tummy Tuck or Liposuction?

Is it better to get a Tummy Tuck Surgery or Liposuction?

Both tummy tuck and liposuction are effective body contouring procedures, but they have different benefits. A tummy tuck is a reconstructive surgery that will tighten muscles and remove excess skin on the abdomen. Liposuction cannot adjust muscle shape or tighten loose skin and reduce fat in problem areas such as the hips, thighs and upper arms. Mr Ahmad recommends a combination of abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and liposuction to achieve better results.

Mini Tummy Tuck?

What is a Mini Tummy Tuck?

The mini tummy tuck is a surgical procedure that tightens the muscles and tissues below the navel, and it is less extensive than a full tummy tuck. Mini tummy tucks are often chosen by women who have had children and want to get rid of their “pregnancy” stomachs. Mini ttucks are not as popular as full tummy tucks because they do not remove as much skin or fat, and the results are not usually as dramatic.

Frequently Asked Questions

About Mummy Makeover Surgery

Yes, the procedures should be carried out simultaneously, and Mummy makeover surgery is performed under general anaesthesia. The main benefits of having all procedures at once are that you only have to recover from the anaesthesia and surgery once.

You are kept comfortable with very effective painkillers, which are prescribed to facilitate post-operative movement.

You would usually stay in hospital for a 1 night stay but sometimes two nights are required. This can be discussed at your consultation with Mr Ahmad.

You should wear comfortable and loose-fitting clothes and cotton underpants. The waistbands should be loose and comfortable.

Mr Ahmad sees you in the consultation centre after surgery to make sure there are no post-operative issues. A post-surgical appointment is also arranged for approximately 10 to 14 days after the procedure. You will be given a follow-up appointment during your post-operative visit.

Having a mummy makeover will not affect your ability to conceive children. However, it is not recommended until after the woman has completed her family and reached a stable weight. Having a baby after a mummy makeover may reverse the aesthetic results and leave you with more excess skin.

Breast Implants don’t usually cause any problems for a baby and do not interfere with the process of mother’s breast milk production or infant feeding in any way. However,It is advisable to wait until your child has stopped nursing before undergoing a Mummy Makeover surgery involving breast augmentation as further studies need to be carried out on this subject. Mummies who have had surgery which does involve breast augmentations should continue with regular check-ups after surgery

Both tummy tuck and liposuction are an effective surgery, but they have different benefits. A tummy lift is a reconstructive surgery that will tighten muscles and remove excess skin on the abdomen. Liposuction cannot adjust muscle shape or tighten loose skin, however, it can be used to reduce fat in problem areas such as the hips, thighs and upper arms. Mr Ahmad recommends a combination of abdominoplasty and liposuction to achieve better results.
